Prizes and Odds of Winning
There are up to ten ways to win on the Illinois Lotto, providing you have played the Extra Shot number. This page provides you with details on the numbers required to win a prize for both players with Extra Shot and regular tickets, plus the odds and the prize for each prize tier.
The minimum jackpot is $2 million, but as the jackpot has no rollover cap and will roll over until it is won, jackpots can often run into the tens of millions. The highest jackpot ever won was $69.9 million in 1989.
Jackpot winners can choose to receive their winnings either in a lump sum or as an annuity over 26 years. The advertised jackpot amount is based on the annuity, and the cash option may be less.
The overall odds of winning a prize on the Illinois Lottery with the Extra Shot is 1 in 5.6 compared to 1 in 7 without Extra Shot.
